 Joseph Marrero was an active and involved parent while his children were enrolled in Head Start / Early Head Start of the Lehigh Valley. While balancing a full time job, he shared his positive energy with the Head Start children by participating in classroom events, acting out stories in the classroom and sharing his love of nature with the children.

He made a commitment to use his free time to spend time reading to children in the classroom, speaking to parents about the importance of parent involvement and working with an inner city Boy Scout troop. He emphasized the importance of father involvement and the special bond a child has with a father figure.

 

 

He has been a supporter of Early Education and its funding; encouraging others to contact their federal and state legislators. This type of involvement laid the foundation for him being elected to the Head Start Policy Council .and as an officer.  He taught other parents how to advocate for their children and how to keep legislators informed about the needs of inner city families.

 

 He is passionate about the needs of families and ensuring neighborhoods support families in their growth and development.
